Bamaga

Bamaga is a small town approximately 40 kilometres from the northern tip of the Cape York Peninsula. It is named after the Saibai Island elder, Bamaga Ginau (1893-1949) who led the settlement from the island to the mainland.  Bamaga enjoys a tropical, savannah climate with high temperatures throughout the year. The Bamaga Township has one major supermarket and variety which is operated by the Islander Board of Industry and Service.
