Want to become a fully qualified teacher?
RATEP is a community-based teacher education program to enable Indigenous people to become fully qualified teaching assistants and/or registered teachers. This course is a partnership between TAFE Queensland North, Department of Education and Training State Schools and James Cook University.
On successful completion of the Diploma of Education (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander), students may be able to:
- Enter second year Bachelor of Education in higher education institutes, including James Cook University.
- Work effectively and independently in an educational environment.
- Act as a cultural liaison officer assisting in the development and implementation of community and school partnerships.
This qualification enables students to graduate with the skills to enter a number of different education fields. Course details
