Entry requirements

The minimum age requirement is 15 years. The minimum entry requirements is a pass in Maths, English and Science at a year 10 level however achievements in other subject areas and work experience will be taken into consideration.  A numeracy and literacy assessment will be conducted to identify any areas a student may require learning support.

Timetable

Townsville Trade Training Centre (Bohle): This course is delivered part-time over 12 weeks (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm) with a further 4 weeks of work experience.  Participants are strongly encouraged to undertake work experience as part of this program. Assistance may be provided in this regard.

Bowen Campus: This course is self paced and students can enrol anytime. Training is delivered on Mondays 8:00am to 4:30pm. Course duration is dependent on the student however a maximum of one year is allowed. Teachers will monitor students to ensure they are progressing satisfactorily.  

Placement

Four weeks of work experience may be available.  Participants are strongly encouraged to undertake work experience as part of this program. Assistance may be provided in this regard.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Certificate 3 Guarantee

You can receive a subsidy towards one certificate III qualification from a list of eligible courses. The amount provided depends on the demand for skilled workers in your chosen industry.

You're eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.
