Complete a Certificate III in Gasfitting or Certificate III in Plumbing (with specified gas units) to apply for an interim gas work licence, and then complete progression to Full Gas Work Licence to become a licensed gas fitter (Type A).

This course is for experienced plumbers with responsibility for project design and supervision (gas stream), plumbers who manage a business (business management stream) and specialist plumbing trades people who wish to expand their technical skills (operations). Course details

Entry requirements

To participate in this course, you will need to have completed a Certificate III in Gasfitting or Certificate III in Plumbing (with specified gas units) and have applied for an interim gas work licence with Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry.

To undertake online theory training component, participants will be required to have access to a computer, the internet and provide a current email address. Once enrolled a TAFE Queensland Student Number will be issued. This Student Number will act as a user name and a password allowing access to the Learning Management System will be sent separately via email.

Resources required

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Timetable

Full time practical component is 3 days, 8.00am - 5.00pm.
Theory component is online and is required to be completed within 12 weeks from enrolment date.

Units

Interim licence holders may apply for a full gas work licence after the completion of the four Certificate IV units detailed below are completed; the completion of a 'Practical Experience Form' of on-the-job experience; and the completion of the interim licence period.
