Nobody can stop the music!

This qualification provides an introduction to the music industry and will improve basic musicianship. It covers a range of industry knowledge and begins to develop technical skills. Students will learn skills to advance to the Certificate IV in Music to reinforces skills, with the possibility of advancing straight to Diploma dependant on teacher appraisal.

Music is a fascinating and challenging career. Although performers sometimes receive the greatest recognition, there is a wide range of careers available behind the scenes. This qualification prepares students for careers in performing, composing, sound recording, technical work and music promotion. Entry requirements

Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required. 

Prospective students are required to attend an informal music audition (either instrumental or voice) and a personal interview with a member of the teaching staff prior to enrolment.

Resources required

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Certificate 3 Guarantee

You can receive a subsidy towards one certificate III qualification from a list of eligible courses. The amount provided depends on the demand for skilled workers in your chosen industry.

You're eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.
