Looking for an international future in the Marine industry!

The Certificate of Safety Training is an STCW95 AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) approved short course that covers required skills and knowledge necessary to enable application to AMSA for the issue of a Certificate of Safety Training.

The Certificate enables holders to serve on board commercial vessels and luxury yachts in Australian and International waters. It is the minimum mandatory qualification required if you intend to work in the maritime industry overseas.

Areas of study include Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR); Security Awareness Training (SAT). Course details

Resources required

You will need to provide the following at your own cost:

  • Certificate fee to AMSA (approx. $112.00)
  • One current passport photo
  • Certified copy of your current Senior First Aid qualification (HLTAID003, Provide First Aid) issued from an Australian Registered Training Organisation
  • Closed in footwear and socks (runners are suitable), t-shirt & shorts for classroom and bathers and towel for pool training. Long pants and overalls will be provided to students for fire training.

Timetable

Full time over five days attending, Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4:30pm with Security Awareness Training to be completed online through Connect Learning Management System.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Concession

You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability.
