This course applies to testing, diagnosing, fault finding and removing/replacing electronic control systems associated with mobile plant and equipment including discrete logic, analogue and microprocessor monitoring and control systems. The skills learned in this course apply to automotive, diesel and hydraulics agricultural and mining environments.

Maintenance would typically cover wiring harness faults; testing and identifying faulty sensors, actuators and control components; replacing and making adjustments to input and output components and accessing data from electronic control unit and applicable manufacturer software/hardware to change operating parameters. Entry requirements

Trade qualification as 'Fitter or 'Diesel Fitter' with basic understanding and knowledge of hydraulics.

Participants must either be working as a trade person with or on hydraulic systems within the workplace or working as an apprentice within the hydraulic, diesel fitting or mechanical industry.

Students must supply the following items:

  • Clothing suitable for workshop activities
  • Safety glasses
  • Pen, notepad and calculator


This course is delivered part time over 15 weeks.
