This course is designed for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board a ship which is required to comply with the provisions of the ISPS Code.  Security Awareness Training (SAT) is required under International amendments, and was made mandatory from 1st January 2014.  This course complies with Table A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4 of STCW 78 as amended, and is approved by AMSA.  This course is one of the components required to obtain an AMSA issued Certificate of Safety Training (CoST), which is the minimum mandatory qualification required to serve on board vessels in international waters.

Topics covered include Maritime Security Policy; Security Responsiblities; Threat indentification, recognition & response; Ship Security actions; and Emergency preparedness, drill & exercise. Course details

Resources required

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
