Start your marine career safely!

Learn survival techniques, safe working procedures for emergency situations on board a vessel, survival techniques on a vessel in an emergency situation, as well as abiding by safe working procedures.

This certificate satisfies requirements for Shipboard Safety under the National Standard for Commercial Vessels Section D4.2 Successful completion of this course is mandatory for anyone working on board commercial vessels and is also a requirement if applying to a state marine authority for Certificate of Competence as a Coxswain Grade 1 or 2, Master Class < 24, Master Class < 35, MED 3, 2 or 1. Entry requirements

You must be a minimum of 16 years of age. As this course involves strenuous water activities, you may be required to complete a medical declaration prior to commencing training.

Resources required

Appropriate clothing and protective footwear must be worn at all times. Swimmers and towel are required for survival practice. A notebook and pen are required for theory components.

Timetable

International Marine College (Cairns): This course is delivered full time over 2.5 days, Monday & Tuesday 8:30am – 4:30pm and Wednesday 8:30am –1pm.
