This program aims to refine the musicianship and technique of performers and increase theoretical knowledge and understanding of music. It provides the intensive professional training required for employment in the music industry. Students will undertake intensive professional training in vocal and instrument technical classes, ensemble, improvisation, history and analysis, and music technology. There are also three core units in music business. There are electives in music tuition, and preparation of music for publishing. This program is performance based with weekly concerts and a variety of gig opportunities. Course details

Entry requirements

Successful completion of Diploma of Music Industry.

Prospective students are required to attend an informal music audition (either instrumental or voice) and a personal interview with a member of the teaching staff prior to enrolment.

Resources required

Please be aware that you will also be required to supply the following items at your cost:

  • Covered shoes are required while engaged in concert activities and while students are in designated areas of TAFE
  • USB memory/flash stick – recommended size 2GB
  • Biros (preferably blue and black ink), pencils, eraser, whiteout (optional) and/or ruler
  • Ring binder folder/s and plastic sleeves or other types of folders to store own workbooks and other work material
  • It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE and have a reliable phone/device for music applications.

Timetable

Cairns campus: Monday to Wednesday 9:00am – 4:00pm, Thursday 10:30am - 4:00pm. 18 hours face to face delivery.

RPL: Start anytime, please call us on 1300 656 959 for an RPL application pack.

Payment Plan

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
