This course will prepare you for a career as a paralegal. Study topics include legal framework, criminal law, family law, property law, contract law, law of torts, wills and probate, evidence law, trust and accounts and establishing a legal file. This qualification has no formal entry criteria however TAFE North has the following selection criteria for this qualification;
Direct entry, year 10 or equivalent.

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.
It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system "Connect", and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
All studies will be through the Connect Online Learning Management System. Students will have 12 weeks from enrolment date to complete units enrolled into and can enrol in no more than 1 unit per subsequent intakes to ensure management of study load.
The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete all 4 core and 6 elective units from the electives listed below.
Please note that if students are wishing to access VET Student Loans to pay for their fees, they must meet the ‘Student entry procedure’ requirements; namely:
obtains a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education that has been awarded to the student by an agency or authority of a State or Territory for the student’s completion of year 12; or
the student is assessed as displaying competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy; and that the VET provider reasonably believes that the student displays that competence.
If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.
The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
