Students who complete this course can work in an office environment where event planning takes place, at an event site or a combination of both.

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in an administrative or operational events support role.

The qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements are required however applicants are encouraged to speak with the Events teacher prior to enrolling to discuss study load if required.

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.


This course is delivered via online learning so hours of study are self-managed and flexible, however your teacher will supply you with Assessment schedules and specific due dates designed for each student and their relevant study plan/enrolled units.

The duration of this course is expected to take up to 12 months.

Within the 12 months of training, the student will need to complete any Practical assessment via workplace and real event Third Party Observations and Additional evidence  and have them signed off as outlined within each specific unit assessment. 

ON enrolment, students will be supplied with the Units and the Event practical outlines.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.


The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Certificate 3 Guarantee

You can receive a subsidy towards one certificate III qualification from a list of eligible courses. The amount provided depends on the demand for skilled workers in your chosen industry.

You're eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.

SIT 30516 Certificate III in Events.  A successful completion of Certificate III in Events provides articulation into pathways related to the Diploma of Events qualification.
