Wanting to create unique fabric patterns using centuries old techniques for fashion or home design? Then create beautiful hand-dyed textiles in this beginner's course in Shibori dyeing method .
Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique dating back as early as the 8th century and involves intricately tying, folding, twisting and stitching fabrics before being immersed in rich dyes. Learn these techniques from local artist and designer India Collins and explore the many resulting patterns - repeated and unique. These dyeing techniques will also be used in reverse where colour is removed from blue denims leaving behind rich patterns and textures. Fabric selection includes recycled denim, linen and cotton, all 100% natural fibres - students are encouraged to upcycle natural fibre fabric from home! Course details
