Disability services

If you require assistance to complete your TAFE study because of a disability it is important to seek assistance early, preferable prior to enrolment, to ensure your support needs can be met.

A disability can be permanent or temporary, and may include:

  • Physical impairment
  • Intellectual impairment
  • Psychiatric illness e.g. depression
  • Sensory impairment e.g. hearing loss, visual impairment
  • Neurological impairment e.g. epilepsy
  • Learning disability e.g. dyslexia
  • Presence of a disease-causing organism e.g. cancer, HIV/AIDS.

All students with a disability are able to access the Equity and Disability Support Service to assist with:

  • Identifying support needs
  • Learning and study strategies
  • Negotiating with teachers about support needs
  • Assistance with contacting other support agencies
  • Providing access to Skills Disability Support (SDS) funding.
