Queensland has the second largest Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander population in Australia, with 155,825 people recorded by the Australian Bureau of Population and Housing in 2011.

More than 50,000 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people live within the TAFE Queensland North footprint.

TAFE Queensland North is the only training facility in Queensland to have a faculty dedicated to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander studies.

Students can choose to study on campus, in their communities and in the workplace.

Even if you don't live near one of our campuses, you can still enrol in our courses by accessing Away from Base (AFB) financial assistance, which may help pay for your travel and accommodation while you're studying.

All students have access to a team of dedicated Indigenous Student Support Officers to assist them with their training needs.

For more information about ATSI courses, read our ATSI Course Guide (PDF, 13.2MB) or search here.
