Learning support for apprentices and trainees

Support when you need it

Learning support is available to students at all campuses. Students who require support have access to a comprehensive range of services through the Student Support Team.

Students may require learning support when:

  • it has been a while since they have studied
  • English is a second language
  • they lack confidence in reading, writing or maths
  • they are faced with a new technology
  • memories of learning experiences are not positive.

The Learning Support Team provides assistance through:

  • in-class support
  • small group work
  • short term or long term programs
  • assistance with writing tasks
  • maths workshops
  • reading and spelling strategies
  • training in basic computer skills
  • time management and organisational skills
  • improving your study skills
  • referencing skills
  • computer skills.

The aim of learning support is to assist students to meet their training needs for their courses. Learning support can be continuous throughout the course or program, or may be as simple as helping students plan a study timetable or reviewing a one-off assignment.

Students who feel they may need learning support should approach their teachers or the Learning Support Team.
